We ate a leisurely breakfast at our gasthof and went down to the river to feed the ducks. Ethan and Talia enjoyed themselves immensely then we headed off toward Linz.

The cycle path hugged the river as it left the tiny town of Aschach.

We dipped into a forested area.

The variety of paths along the river break the monotony and the shade of the trees is welcome in the summer heat!

It was easy and enjoyable riding, very suited to a cycle holiday!

We stopped for a break at a beautiful spot that afforded views of either s small castle or a large church in a small town.

Ethan took this photo of us. He loves using the portrait mode!

I love taking photos of Talia on her bike. The pretty girl and the pretty town go very well together!

We toke a feet over to that town. It carried cars and people with bikes.

There were lovely cafes on the other side but it was too early for us to to stop so we kept on going.

Low traffic roads rolled up and down along the river.

We arrived early in the outskirts of Linz, as there is more to see in this city.

The pan fried perch is a staple in this country. This variation on a bed of risotto was superb!

Ethan enjoyed the deck chairs in the restaurant that had views of the river. After that it was a short ride to our hotel.

We walked out of our hotel in search of the oldest cafe in Vienna that Renata had found. The Hofbackerei has been in the family for 5 generations!

We strolled to find the Linz tramway

We were particularly looking for the Postlingberg – a tram that runs up a very steep gradient of a nearby hill.

At the top of the hill is a famous church and a small community.

We went in search of the Grottenbahn – a “museum” of Austrian kid’s fairy tales! It was the Austrian versions of Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel and Rumpelstiltskin!

Talia looked huge in the miniature town!

We enjoyed ice cream and radler before heading back down to the main town.

And there was a time trial going on, with the start and end at the main city square. Ethan and Talia watches a few of the racers speed off the start line, and I stared at the cool bikes and the rows of team mechanics!

Walking to find dinner, another cool cyclist caught our attention. This gentleman was impeccably dressed and riding a lovely vintage bicycle along the cobblestone street!

We found a superb dinner at Vapiano, in what turned out to be a sleek chain that did excellent Italian food at very reasonable prices. They started in Spain and are all over Europe. The paradaiser suppe turned out to the best tomato soup we ever had. I must try to recreate that!
