Today was a rest day with no biking and we would see Vienna!

It felt strange to call an Uber and take the easy way around!

Not biking tourists but regular tourists! We signed up for a free walking tour, that would still use our muscles but give the cycling ones a rest. The tour was free, but we would tip the guide at the end.

It was also Corpus Christi day and many Catholics of various orders had come to celebrate this day!

The Bishop also walked along in his regalia but he had a shaded cover following him!

Horse-drawn carriages were everywhere in the beautiful city centre. D

As were plaques that depicted which famous person lived here.

St Stephen’s Abbey was magnificent. Supposedly some of his bones are interred here.

No bones, no indulgences, no 1000+ year history. That’s why my church doesn’t look like this!

We had a great morning as a family and were thankful for the tour, so we looked for other things to do.

I found out there was a “Liliput-bahn” mini train in Prater park so we headed there. The day was almost over so the lady was surprised I bought the 7 € day ticket for Ethan but I knew he would make it worth it.

I relaxed, Talia went for other rides and Ethan did 3 loops on various trains around the 20 minute track which went to other parts of the city. His favorite train was the real steam locomotive! It would be amazing if Singapore did this along the Rail Corridor. A mini-train but with a fun and functional service. It could even have an open platform that people could load bikes on it!

After the kids went to bed, I rode back to the old town to see the city at night!

This whole trip, this was my first time out at night. It reminded me of our Veloscenic ride in France, where on the last night I rode out at midnight in Mont St Michel

My Brompton S2L-X has been quite a few places now. In addition to Singapore and Malaysia, she has visited France, Australia, Germany and Austria! Soon we will add Slovakia and Hungary to the list!

I prepared to head back as a light drizzle began. The forecast had said rain but I wasn’t worried as it was only 20 deg C and I was used to tropical rain. On the short ride back to our apartment however, it poured cats and dogs and I was totally drenched. The tall buildings and narrow streets creates wind-tunnels and vortexes! It would be calm on one street then a torrential gust next, with visible swirls of water and rain in the air! Some parts were quite dangerous so I was super careful and glad to get back to warmth and safety!
Tomorrow would be an early and long day!
